New Year, New Goals

It has been quite a while since I posted anything. A lot has changed since then. I am married now and working full time. Now that I earn enough to pay for this addictive hobby, I hardly have time to spend doing it! Quite a catch 22!

So since I have a little spare money now, I have decided to organize my craftroom a bit. I bought two 36" wide unfinished kitchen cabinets at our local Lowes the other night. I am going to paint them lime green to match the table my dad made me. I am very excited to see how much easier crafting will be after I get finished. I will post photos soon. Until then, don't forget to get a little messy and get crafting!

P.S. I also have a wonderful new phone that makes blogging easier so hopefully I will post more often! Check back soon for more updates!

Wishing myself a Happy Birthday

I'm so excited! Last week Steven bought me a new phone for my birthday and because I felt I deserved it, I bought myself the BlackBerry PlayBook!! So now (I'm not making any promises, so don't hold your breath) I can hopefully update my blog more! You see I can use my phone as a mobile hotspot to hook up my PlayBook to the Internet at home (where we don't have the net bc the only options are satellite or air card- both of which have limited data usage)!!!!!

So to make my first official update via PlayBook.....

I made a card this week for a good friend of mine whose birthday is just a few days before mine.
I'm not good with remembering the products I used because I don't prepare, I just dive on in, plus many times the packing is thrown away. So I took the pretty stuff above and created...
There was just one problem, it didn't seem "finished" to me. So I went and had to buy more bling...
And does it not look better by adding just a little more bling bling!?! I got a great response too! That's probably. The best part of making things for others.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday!!!!!

Craft room

So we're finally settled into our home! I am LOVING my craft room!!  I don't have a lot of furniture/ cabinets in there yet, but it's working for now. I read many different web pages about colors and moods, and I finally set on a very vibrant orange color for my craft room. ("After" pictures to come)

Before
A very bland white (except where the previous owners painted  around furniture)

Before
Love the huge windows! They let in so much natural light, especially since the sun mostly stays  on this side of the house)

It's getting there! The wall straight ahead has a tinted primer and the first base coat. The wall to the right is just the primer and WOW what a HUGE difference!

After help from Steven's grandpa, we're done!

Starting to move stuff in, but still far from what I imagine it will one day become.

I wasn't ever too fond of orange, but I truly believe it does provide a creative mood in the room! I haven't had much of a chance to decorate, but I do have a gorgeous purple memory board that I mom made me for Christmas! (She's a fantastic quilter.) I can't wait til I'm done with school so I can spend ALL of my time in my fabulous orange craft room!

Once we decide to break down and pay the outrageous prices for satellite internet, I will hopefully get to update more often.

Have a scrap-tastic Sunday!

New Creations

Well, I've been vacationing, spent 8 weeks in school this summer, and actually accomplished some crafting! I made a few gifts and some cards!

This was a gift for my boyfriend's cousin. She and her husband
had a baby boy back in April. They have a Winnie the Pooh theme
in his room so I made this wall hanging for him.

Wouldn't you know ideas come at the strangest times?!
Well,as I was playing with a Mike's hard lemonade bottle cap,
I realized my boyfriend's cousin (different cousin- he has MANY!)
was about to get married to her fiance...namely a Mike! lol Since he is
in the Army, I decided she would probably like to have a picture of him
around her neck so I cut out a picture of them together and with a little
Inkssentials Glossy Accents, I made this cute necklace.

This gift was for a friend who got married back in June.
I found the idea while I was surfing youtube. If I can find it again,
I will post a link. It was very easy to do, and came out much better than I
had imagined it would. All I did was buy a  plain white candle, and then I printed
onto the tissue paper using my printer and then I slightly melted the outside of the
candle so the tissue paper and wax merged together.
On one side of the candle is the names of the couple along with their
wedding date, and the other says: "All Because Two People Fell In Love..."

I made a card at some point, but I will post it some other day. I find I enjoy making gifts for people than I do making stuff for my self! Very strange, but whatever keeps me motivated is good for me! Hope you all enjoyed my creations!

Happy Crafting!

Long Time No Posts!

Well, now that my spring quarter has ended and I can finally breath again, I just might be able to enjoy my hobby again! I hope this summer I will be able to post more since I only have 2 days worth of classes to take up my paper crafting time! LOL

I'm trying to brainstorm some ideas for thank you cards. A bunch of us went to Norris Lake over the holiday weekend, and I wanted to send out some thank you cards to the people who were nice enough to let us stay at their house. If you have any ideas, you're more than welcome to share, I seem to be in an idea rut lately!

You're ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated! Have a good evening one and all!

GOODIES!

Since this school quarter has started, I haven't had much time for paper crafting or breathing for that matter! So I was glad I got to go to Chillicothe today to get some goodies from JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby! JoAnn's was having an AMAZING sale on Cricut cartridges so I went online to buy them and the ones I wanted were out of stock! YIKES! So I decided to call the Chillicothe store and by pure luck they had just one in stock, and I placed an order for another one that should be here in about 10 days. Now you're wondering which cartridges I bought, well, I bought Picturesque and Paper Lace. I haven't bought cartridges in a while since I got Sure Cuts A Lot last year, but I thought I could get a lot of good use out of these two since they're more like designs rather than themed.
I also bought some other fun goodies, of course! At JoAnn's I found a six pack of glitter on clearance (don't you just love running across good clearance stuff?!), I got a mini spool of brown and teal decorative ribbon, some stickers for the new baby (Steven's cousin is expecting in April), a pack of cards with envelopes for Easter, and about five clear $1.00 stamps. I am absolutely addicted to the $1.00 sections!!
At Hobby Lobby, I bought new Cricut mats; they were having a 30% of Cricut stuff sale, and you can't ever have too many mats! I also got Hobby Lobby's Scrapbooking magazine (I sure wish you could subscribe to it!), a Winnie the Pooh soft sticker set (also for the baby to come), and with my 40% off coupon, I got a Scrapbooking Digitally book. I have never tried digital scrapbooking and thought it could be fun! Well, I'm off to finish some homework before I dive into my new stuff! Hope everyone has a great long weekend!

Christmas

I'm sorry for not posting in a while, the holidays have been crazy hectic! I did want to get on here real quick and post some pictures of the project I did for about 6 months as a Christmas present for my boyfriend's family. I used the 7 Gypsies Printer Tray that I purchased from Archiver's.

As you can see I made NINE of these! LOL let's just say I won't being getting myself into huge projects like that for a while!

They all had the same photographs, but the embellishments were slightly different from tray to tray. The keys were from 7 Gypsies. The ornate metal plates and metal corners ( they're on opposite corners of each tray) were all Tim Holtz products from the idea-ology line. Most of the papers were from The Paper Company Studio's Ancestral line. The family stamp is a Stampabilities stamp I bought at Hobby Lobby (probably one of my favorite stores and most dangerous on the bank account! LOL)

Here are a few close-ups of the trays:
